First Post

Hello Lauren (Mommy), Hadley, Eli, and me (Kurtis (Daddy)). ! I've created this to have a virtual memory of what life is like for us. Hopefully we can keep this until you (Hadley & Eli (will we have more kids?)) are old and gray and you can look back at what your life was like when you were little. Wow, it's April 2, 2014. Eli is just over 7 months old and Hadley is 2 days shy of 30 months. ! Eli, you smile a ton! :-) You aren't crawling on your hands and knees yet but you can get around in several ways including an army crawl where you're up on one knee and pulling yourself forward with your elbows. The other day Mommy sat you on the floor in the living room of our house on Prewitt Loop Road and left the room to do something else. When she returned you were nowhere to be found. She quickly found you behind the couch, at the other end. Ha! Hadley you tell us that you are a little boy, NOT a baby. Something funny that you do is you say that you need something that you don't actually need. For example, often times at night (or really any time of the day but especially at night) you tell us "I need to watch a movie." Which we find comical because it's often near bedtime when you say this and because no one actually needs to watch a movie. Ha! (BTW the main movie that you watch right now is Cars, you've apparently gotten over your fixation with Finding Nemo and we don't have cable and the only other two movies we have are actually on VHS and they are movies that Tito & Tita brought over that used to be your Mommy's (Yes, they're awful movies, one is about a circus and the other is about police officers I think but thankfully they're only about 25 minutes long...the first night Tito & Tita brought these over they watched them with you and while I know they deeply enjoy every moment they spend with you they were probably wishing they had trashed those movies long ago and brought over a new Disney movie instead). Lauren, you work so hard every day to feed, clothe, and love the kids and I! O the plight of someone who is (as Peggy Campolo would say) "...socializing two homo sapiens into the dominant values of the Judeo-Christian tradition in order that they might be instruments for the transformation of the social order into the kind of eschatological utopia that God willed from the beginning of creation..."!! You haven't resumed guitar lessons since Eli was born, maybe you can in Ecuador, I guess you should just take some more now. Right now you're reading (lots of blogs and some books) Rachel Held Evans, Sarah Bessey, and Glennon Melton to name a few. You're more wonderful than you'll ever give yourself credit for!

Anyway, here we are
